ADC Bayelsa State Chairman Meets with Non-Indigenes Coalition, Calls for Collective Efforts to Rescue Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Secretariat of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was a beehive of activity on Friday, 29th August 2025, as the State Executive Committee of the party, led by the Chairman, Hon. Johnny Tovie Derek, held a robust interactive meeting with the ADC Non-Indigenes Coalition

‎The coalition, led by its Chairman, Mr. Danlami Danjuma, alongside members of its executive, expressed appreciation to the state leadership of the party for the warm reception. In his remarks, Mr. Danjuma lamented the state of the nation under successive governments, which he described as “all promises and no results.” He reaffirmed the coalition’s readiness to work with the ADC at both the state and national levels, stressing that their decision to identify with the ADC was driven by the party’s vision for genuine progress in Bayelsa State and Nigeria at large.
‎Speaking also, the Chairman of the Arewa Community in Bayelsa, Alhaji Usman Ali Galadanci, noted that despite their past support for other parties and governments, meaningful progress has remained elusive. He assured that the Non-Indigenes Coalition has resolved to give its all to ensure the ADC emerges victorious, as a pathway to true change.
‎The Assistant Secretary of the Yoruba Community and Secretary of the Coalition, Mr. Abdulrauf Olajide Alabi, said the Yoruba community was tired of “verbal change and empty promises,” adding that through the ADC, they believe genuine change is possible.

She affirmed the Igbos’ full support for the ADC, describing it as the party with the vision to take Bayelsa and Nigeria to greater heights.
‎Also speaking, the representative of the South-South Forum, Mr. Edwin Edet, kept his remarks brief but assured of the readiness of the South-South people to stand firmly with the ADC in the struggle to lift Bayelsa State and Nigeria to enviable heights.
‎In his response, the ADC State Chairman, Hon. Johnny Tovie Derek, expressed gratitude to the coalition for identifying with the party. He acknowledged the immense contributions of non-indigenes to the development of Bayelsa State, stressing that the state would not be what it is today without their input. He charged them to join hands with the ADC to set the records straight by voting credible leaders, promising that the party is committed to delivering the real change Bayelsans and Nigerians deserve.
