Shock As Umar Ganduje Wins Kano Governorship Election

Image may contain: 1 person, smilingIncumbent governor of Kano State Umar Ganduje has won the supplementary election held in the state on Saturday. Ganduje, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, polled a total of 45, 876 while his challenger Abba Yusuf of the People’s Democratic Party had 10, 231 votes.
Only 57, 777 voters were accredited for the election out of the possible 131, 073 registered voters, the returning officer for the election Professor Bello B. Shehu said.
The election was held in 207 polling units across 75 wards in 28 local government areas of the state.
Bello declared the first ballot held on March inconclusive after the margin between Yusuf, who was in the lead, and Ganduje was lower than the number of votes cancelled. Yusuf polled a total of 1,014,474 votes ahead of Ganduje who garnered 987, 819 votes. The margin
was 26,655 votes while a total number of 100,873 votes were cancelled.
The cumulative figures for both the inconclusive election and the supplementary election show that APC polled 1,033, 695 ahead of PDP with 1, 024, 713.

SOKOTO ELECTION
Governor Aminu Tambuwal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has scored the highest votes the Sokoto State governorship election after polling a total of 512,002 from both the March 9 first ballot and yesterday’s supplementary election.
Ahmad Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) came close behind with 511,661, losing to his erstwhile principal with just 341votes.
Mr Aliyu was Mr Tambuwal’s deputy governor.

BENUE STATE

The Benue State Governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared winner of the just concluded supplementary governorship election in the state.
Mr Ortom, who recently defected to the PDP, defeated his closest rival, Emmanuel Jime of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 31 other contestants.

PLATEAU STATE
Governor Simon Lalong of the All Progressives Congress has won the Plateau State governorship election, following the supplementary poll held on Saturday.
Lalong was declared the winner by the Returning Officer in the state, Prof Richard Kimbir, after scoring 595,582 votes to defeat 23 other candidates, including the Peoples Democratic Party standard-bearer, Jeremiah Useni, who garnered 546,813.

Endy Edeson Online News can we call the ones in Sokoto, Bauchi, Benue free and fair? Even the ones in Benue is supposed to be cancelled because a returning officer was killed. We should be a little objective and shun partisan politics. Why do we only ascribe free and fair election to where PDP won? When tribunal favours PDP we call it fair but when otherwise, we call it presidential power
