A former House of Representatives
candidate for Yenagoa / Kolokuma / Opokuma Federal Constituency in the
2019 general elections, Mr. Obesi Otasome Benjamin has called for unity
among Bayelsa State Lawmakers in the National Assembly irrespective of
political party affiliations, stating that division among them will not
bring about the expectations of the lots of Bayelsans who voted for
them. He made this call in a media interactive moment with Edeson Online
News in Lagos. The former Reps candidate also called on the lawmakers
to create liaison offices in all ward headquarters across the state for
easy and effective communication network, inquiry and interest
articulation process in other to sustain a progressive relationship
between them and their constituents.
He pleaded with the newly
elected lawmakers to seize all available opportunities and unanimously
lobby and attract developmental projects to the state.
Mr.
Obesi however stated that it is important for constituents to avoid
making unnecessary demands from legislators stating that it is not the
role of the legislator to build roads, hospitals or schools, but the
kind of laws that they make can enable the quick and efficient delivery
of those services and prosper the state and the nation at large, and

Speaking about his own constituency, the former young candidate told Edeson Online News that the numerous achievements which Prof. Steve Azaiki has recorded in his previous state, national and international assignments depicts that the lawmaker will make Bayelsa state proud. Interestingly, Prof Steve Azaiki is the only Professor in the green chamber; very few lawmakers posses the kind of experience and qualities that we have found in him.
