Lagos State Govt Bans Use Of Residential Houses To Burry Dead People

The Lagos State Government has prohibited the use of residential premises as morgues, embalmment centres and burial sites.

This, according to the government, is to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases in the state.

The Executive Secretary of Lagos State Law Reform Commission, Ade Adeyemo, on Wednesday, said that the prohibition had become necessary as part of measures

to adjust to the 21st Century reality of preventing infectious diseases.

She explained that the commission arrived at the adopted measures after careful consideration and review of laws that address the immediate and peculiar needs of Lagosians at every point in time.

Adeyemo noted that the coronavirus and the need to prevent a second wave of the disease necessitated the review.

According to her, the Law Reform Commission is saddled with the responsibility of reviewing and reforming laws to effect necessary changes to make them more modern, fair, just, efficient, accessible and bring them following the prevailing social and moral values of society.

She said, "The commission, after review, found it expedient to ensure that the Lagos State Public Health Law was expanded to include present-day disease outbreaks like the Ebola, Lassa fever, and other infectious diseases.

"The very first compendium of laws in the state was the 1973 Laws of Lagos State which was a merger of the laws that existed in the former Federal Territory of Lagos and those of Former Western Nigeria.

"The present Law Reform Commission evolved out of the short term State Law Review Committees/Commissions saddled with the responsibilities of previous law reforms."

In fact, Most Yoruba People doesn't know how to bury human being. They dig Grave just for 2 fits as if is Chicken or Goat they want to Bury. I hate it and most of them will Dig well water close to the grave, forgotten the Negative Effect.

In My place of Birth in Benue State, U can't Dig a grave that is Less than 7 Fits, and the way dey will bury human being self, if the Disease can open his/her mouth and said, it Ok they will.
And we need to understand that Human being is the most wasteful things among all that God Created on Earth.
Alot of people do Eat a dead animals, knowing or unknowingly but av never seen people eating a dead body for life, and that is why we don't need to Dispose Human being anyhow just because of Environmental Hazard.

I believed in future to come they will Set fire on Dead Bodies like India and other Countries.

Though, I Strongly Agree with State Government to some extent, but it will not work on Time Simply because, I can't own a land With Complete papers, for donkeys Years and u will asked me not do whatever I wished just because of your own Benefit as a Leader for few years.

I think State Government should only tell them to change their Method of Burying human being like Foul, Most especially the Islam, before u close and open ur eye they have buried human being finish kaii kaii kaii.

How can one person Dig a Grave, is annoying.

But Note: Am not Condemning any Religion here pls.

Even Jesus Christ Grave, before they roll away the Stones placed on Top, it wasn't Easy @ All.

Well, May God help Us.

Apart from disallowing home burial ground, shallow grave in the name of religion should be disallowed. The 6 fts deep burial ground started in USA and many cultures copied same during bubonic pandemonium infectious diseases. It was discovered that the smell from the grave also spread the deceases hence 6 fts was introduced. Some tribes hung thier deadbodies on the trees and the flesh of the dead fall off as thier mode of burying the dead. What of cremation that F/ Governor Fashola introduced. This should be used for people who has no money to buy spaces in both public and private burial Lagos State Government should not just be reminding Lagosians or pretending of making a new Law,the Burial Law is Old. See Western Nigeria Burial Law 1959 where Lagos State copied the Burial Law in 1973.
The government should build more Cementary and also licence private one with proper inspection and monitoring.
