Millions around the world will be ringing in the New Year in massive celebrations - New Zealand is the first country to celebrate New year and they are officially in the year 2023

The first place in the world that saw 2023 were the small Pacific island nations of Tonga, Samoa and Kiribati/Christmas Island at 10am local time.

More than a million gathered to watch the incredible firework display at the Opera House in Sydney as they celebrated New Year after Covid restrictions were lifted earlier this year.

Tonight in Scotland, thousands of people will attend Edinburgh’s traditional Hogmanay celebrations as they return for the first time in three years.
