Nyesom Wike Makes History As First Governor To Drive Into Opobo Kingdom

Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling, textRivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Wednesday received the Golden Key to the city of Opobo as the first governor to drive into the Ancient Island. Amayanabo and Natural Ruler of Opobo Kingdom , King Dandeson Douglas Jaja who presented the Golden Key of Opobo Kingdom thanked the Rivers State Governor for constructing the road that has opened the kingdom. Since 1870 when Opobo Town was founded, no governor has driven into the Ancient Island.
Opobo Town is the headquarters of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area created in 1996.The Kingdom is made up of satellite towns namely: Kalaibiama, Queens Town, Minima, Illom, Ekereborikiri, Down-Below, Abazibie and Opukalama, and Epellema while a part of the city state
is now in Akwa Ibom State, made up of Ikot Abasi, Kampa.
There are also settlements and villages or fishing ports belonging to various Wari (War Canoe Houses) and Polo (Group of Houses or Section) of Opobo Kingdom. King Jaja of Opobo (full name: Jubo Jubogha; 1821–1891) was the first king of the kingdom.
MEANWHILE, The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says the All Progressives Congress (APC) does not have any candidate to field for the general election in Rivers state. The commission said this on Thursday while reacting to the ruling for stay of execution of an order barring the party from fielding candidates.
In January, a Port Harcourt high court had nullified the primary polls conducted by both factions of the APC in Rivers.
While the faction of Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation, had produced Tony Cole as its governorship candidate, the other produced Magnus Abe, a serving senator.
However, the lower court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to recognise any candidate of the APC in Rivers during the general election.
Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers state, Tonye Patrick Cole, had hailed Monday’s ruling of the Court of Appeal which ordered a stay of execution of an earlier Federal High Court ruling nullifying the party’s primaries and stopping it from fielding candidates for state and federal elections in Rivers.

GUYS, DO YOU THINK APC can win Rivers State in this election?
SHOULD APC forget about 2019 governorship election in Rivers State?

Tonye is not a politician, just that Nigerians sees politics as a bigger stream of income and a ladder to a global fame! It's all for the favor of wike#un opposed! Meanwhile Rivers has been a PDP state. Amechi gambled with it and it caught up with him

Idowu Donalds Dino

Endy u repotted that inec has taking a stand against the Apc in Rivers State not to field a candidates, yet u are asking ur readers if they think Apc can win elections in Rivers State.Yet the gullible readers are responding.what a height of gullibility and ignorance!!!.....but for the records,u are misquoting and misrepresenting inec statement and stands here......

Endy Edeson

@Eze: My brother. Why I ask the question is, INEC can still make a U-turn and allow APC to contest. Eze, what do you think of Wike's good works in Opobo town. They are celebrating him in Opobo for providing good road network

Abeg, tonye cole all the way joor, we civil servants have suffered enough, we don't need a politician, all we need is good leaders, i don't vote party, i vote for individual

Onyii Ray-Ekemezie

No Apc candidate in Rivers state. Supreme Court has finally decided. Wike carry go!!

Sometime, Nwike behaves like an "Agbero", but I know the guy is doing some good stuff for the people there. As for APC not having any candidate in Rivers, it is just the law of Karma manifesting itself. The gangster called Amaechi vowed in 2015 to burry PDP while defecting. He cooked up all kinds of allegations against Jonathan, claiming at a point that he (Oga Jona) wanted to kill him. Today, it is the APC that is inexistent in Rivers. That's how wicked people are paid for their perfidy.
