Super Eagles Of Nigeria Beat Burundi 1-0 In AFCON Opening Match

Nigeria opened their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations campaign against Burundi today Saturday June 22, 2019. The Super Eagles have not had the best of preparations for the continental showpiece, drawing 0-0 to Zimbabwe and losing 1-0 to Senegal in their last two warm-up matches. 

However, Gernot Rohr’s men Super Eagles of Nigeria sought to take maximum points off Burundi, who are making their debut at the tournament, with 1-0 win. Ighalo scored the winning goal for Super Eagles.

The match kicked off at 6pm in the UK and Nigeria - that is 7pm in Egypt and Burundi. The match was held at Alexandria Stadium.
