Ebonyi University Lecturer Dies While Doing Taxify Services

It was a very sad day for the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ebonyi State as the news of the death of a lecturer engulfed the university community. Mr. Kyrian Nwoke was a lecturer in the department of Physiology of the institution. As a devoted family man whose wife gave birth few months ago, Mr. Kyrian, whose salaries and allowances have been withheld by the federal government of Nigeria for over four months had to enlist his vehicle on Taxified Services. This was as a coping strategy for him to fend for his family in the face of the avoidable punishment from the government to the federal university lecturers. On Sunday, 10th January, 2020, he got a call to pick some people (passengers) from Udemezue Street and drop at Native Delicacies, one of the most popular eateries in Abakaliki located at Ogoja Road of the same town. Kyrian hurriedly and joyfully left for the services which he believed would provide the day's meal for his young family.

From then, the family could not hear from him until the following day when his dead body was discovered along the same Ogoja Road.

We pray that God grant him eternal rest and give the family the grace to bear this great loss. We plead the necessary bodies to bring the perpetrators to book.
We also pray the federal government to at least pay his family his withheld salaries and allowances to plan his funeral.
