Heineken Lokpobiri, one of the APC governorship aspirants, had approached the court to declare him, and not David Lyon, as the authentic candidate of the APC.
The court pronounced that the governorship primary conducted by the APC in Bayelsa state was not done in compliance with the guidelines and the constitution of the party, and, therefore, the party has no candidate. The judge’s ruling was not part of the prayers Heineken Lokpobiri sought, It’s strange.
On Tuesday, November 12, a Federal High Court in Abuja disqualified Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, Lyon’s running mate, from participating in the election for providing conflicting information on the documents he submitted to the electoral umpire.
Mr Lyon, a relatively unknown aspirant then, defeated five other aspirants in the APC governorship primary in September, including Heineken Lokpobiri, a former minister of state for agriculture and rural development, who was seen by many as a front-runner in the race.
Mr Lokpobiri scored 571 votes, the second-lowest in the primary, while Mr Lyon, who had the backing of the Minister of State for Petroleum and former governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, had 42,138 votes.
In its reaction, INEC said the election will go on despite the disqualificatio n of the APC candidate. Many party chieftains said the primaries left much to be desired, accusing the party national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, of conducting another undemocratic election.
It was the same internal party crisis that caused APC loses in states such as Zamfara and with Rivers.
In Rivers, the party’s candidates were disqualified before the general elections and thus could not take part while in Zamfara, the candidates who had earlier been declared winners were disqualified by the Supreme Court and opposition candidates then declared winners.
Mr Stanley Kalango, candidate of the African Action Congress in the election, stands to benefit the most from APC’s exclusion from the race.
Due to the internal crisis in Bayelsa APC, Many Bayelsans are now considering to vote the Governorship Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the Bayelsa state 2019 election, Comr. Kalango Stanley Davies.
A Bayelsan who pleaded anonymity told NEWSMEN that Comrade Kalango is a good alternative to vote for since the political bigwigs are in disarray.

Meaning that AAC is becoming an off shoot of APC? As APC is sidelined by the high Court's judgment, AAC will now be drafted in to take the victory for APC through the selection process of our modern election. It could be true, APC may decide to give the state to AAC.
