Finidi George Resigns As Super Eagles Head Coach

Finidi George has resigned from his position as the head coach of the Super Eagles. It is believed Finidi took the decision on Saturday, days after the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, announced moves to bring in a foreign technical adviser.

His exit was confirmed by former Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, on his social media account.

Ibitoye wrote: “News just in: Finidi George @FinidiGeorge_FG has resigned from his @NGSuperEagles manager position.”

Finidi was only appointed on April 29, 2024, to replace Jose Peseiro, whose contract expired in February.

During his very brief tenure, the former Enyimba boss oversaw a 1-1 draw with South Africa and a 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic, both in the 2026 World Cup qualifying series.

Better for him. He is a disaster. So full of himself.

This useless NFF leadership brought this upon us, I don't even blame Finidi

Quute unfortunate how the unpatriotic and self centredness of the today's so called super eagles have dwindled Nigeria senior national team and trickling tears of pain on super eagles fans and supporters. Trust me so many of the so called s-eagles we have today, are less of bench warmers not to talk of them playing as first choices in the Super Eagles squard, quite a pity Nigerians are feeling the pains. Be it anybody in that eagles whether related to former players or not if not good enough and less productive such player should be placed where they belong and stop killing the national team 'cause of wrong connections. Finidi George's time a player I know him right from the days Finidi was playing for Sharks of Port Harcourt the golden boy of Sharks and he moved to Rangers of Enugu and graduated to the the real super eagles made up of Rashidi Yekini and co, Finidi George merited playing for the S-eagles without connection and he proved himself as fantastic player he scored a goal against Benin Republic after feeding Yekini with fantastic passes. Let those who deserve to wear the S-eagles Jersey wear the Jersey and let not unnecessary connections make way for those deficient making the S-eagles team!
